Long Thanh Airport: A Symbol of Vietnam’s Growth Ambition

These two images of Long Thanh International Airport – from February 2024 and November 2025 – capture more than just construction progress. They reflect Vietnam’s fast-execution capability and the strong determination behind its infrastructure push.

While the project began in January 2021, real acceleration only happened from 2024 onward, after Vietnam undertook significant regulatory reforms to clear bottlenecks and streamline the approval process. The transformation since then speaks for itself:

➡ Rapid construction progress within less than two years

➡ Strong coordination across contractors

➡ A clear demonstration of Vietnam’s ability to deliver once policy alignment is in place

Concerns about connectivity and supporting infrastructure remain, but we believe the impressive execution speed should be viewed positively—especially as Vietnam sets the stage for its next phase of development.

For 2026, the government is targeting around 10% GDP growth. Whether that is achievable is still up for debate. But Long Thanh’s progress highlights a broader message: Vietnam is entering a period of high ambition and renewed commitment to growth.
